| ![]() Kick Hunger Challenge Adds To The Competition Leading Up To The Superbowl’s Taste Of The Nfl EventFormer Steeler Andy Russell & Bigelow Grille’s Chef Anthony Zallo will participate in Taste of the NFL.
By: Krol Media Taste of the NFL will be held on February 4th. Anthony Zallo of the Doubletree by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown where he is Executive Chef at the Bigelow Grille, has been selected to be a part of the culinary lead-up to the big game as the representative of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will be teamed with Steelers great Andy Russell. This year Zallo will be making Handmade Heirloom Pork Kielbasa with Sauerkraut Pierogie and Roast Apple Mustard which has proved to be a Pittsburgh favorite at Bigelow Grille. The event features food and wine from the best chefs in each of the 32 NFL cities. Zallo and Russell will team up to represent the black and gold. Along with other pairs from NFL cities, they will be raising awareness and funds for hunger-related charities across the country, including the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Pittsburgh has won the annual helmet auction contest for the past few years in a row with proceeds going directly to the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank. This year, Andy Russell will be auctioning a helmet signed by himself, Jack Ham and Jack Lambert. The chefs are selected based on critic reviews, originality and quality of their menu and restaurant ratings. Reviewers have described Chef Anthony Zallo's culinary creations as "pure art" and "unique adventurous dishes." The event, dubbed as the “Super Bowl’s only Party with a Purpose” will be at Gleaners Food Bank in Indianapolis. Since its inception in 1992, Taste of the NFL has raised more than $11 million for hunger related charities. Attendees at the Taste of the NFL will have the opportunity to sample food, meet the chefs and take photos with host players and special celebrity guests. There will also be a live performance during the culinary exhibition.
