Surprisingly engaging, Tir Na n’Og is quite the enjoyable read. Written entirely in a series of journal entries by Casey herself, author Marni Troop’s imaginative fantasy tale presents the reader with a compelling portrait of a fantastical society that suddenly finds itself under perilous siege. Faced with the prospect of fading into historical oblivion, the Faerie people are forced to band together in an effort to preserve their beloved island, and Casey captures their dramatic mission in vivid detail throughout the pages of her eye-opening chronicles. Skillfully intertwining such elements as love, heartbreak, mystery, and suspense, Tir Na n’Og is the solid debut of what promises to be an entertaining Fantasy series.
