Kansas City's Retro Vixen to Open June 5

May 20, 2010 - PRLog -- The store will open at 11 a.m. and refreshments will be served until 5 p.m. The grand opening party will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature art from Krysztof Nemeth and performances by members of The Kansas City Society of Burlesque.

Retro Vixen is a glamorous boutique for women to shop for retro-inspired clothing, shoes and accessories. The boutique’s owners, Melissa Evans and Nikki Moreno, designed the shop to cater to a woman’s “girly” side while reinforcing and accenting the positives features of every woman.

“Retro Vixen is different because we specialize in vintage-inspired dresses, sophisticated shoes and charming accessories,” said Melissa Evans. “We offer a wide range of feminine things that women really love.”

In a twist, the boutique is also a photo studio. “We also offer women a place to get personalized pinup photos in the full-service photo studio located in the back of the store,” said co-owner and photographer Nikki Moreno.  “You can come in and buy that perfect pair of heels, get a full makeover and transform yourself into a pin-up girl straight from your grandfather’s 1940s Gil Elvgren calendar.”

The owners will offer handpicked selections from well-known as well as up-and-coming local designers. The shop will also feature classes that teach women how to dress in pinup fashions and apply vintage makeup and hair.

Evans and Moreno believe the unusual shopping experience at Retro Vixen will give women a place to shop, relax and feel pampered.  With 10 years experience in retail and management, Evans had a dream to create a specialized boutique that would appeal to the feminine side of women while also offering affordable prices.

“We’re providing a personal shopping experience,” said Evans.  “Retro Vixen is a place where women will feel beautiful just walking in the door.”

Moreno, who has owned and operated Vixen Pin-up Photography for three years, hopes to give her clients a place to get the full pin-up experience.  “We want the ladies of Kansas City and surrounding areas to have a place to shop and pamper themselves,” she said.
