TOMS RIVER, N.J. - April 29, 2019 - PRLog -- Never-ending. Frustrating. Infuriating. Absurd. Crazy. These are a few of the many words that business owners, drivers and the local community used to describe the $11.8 million construction project to widen Route 166 from Old Freehold Road to Colfax Street.

Construction barriers were first put in place for the project on March 28, 2016. The State Department of Transportation finally removed those barriers exactly three years later.

The project has since been known as the longest construction project ever, according to Ryan Blumenthal, owner of Corinne Jewelers in Toms River – a local business that has been directly affected by the construction project.

"After three extremely long years, the dust has finally settled and the traffic on Route 166 in Toms River has cleared," said Blumenthal. "To celebrate, Corinne Jewelers is hosting a special three-day 'Over Construction Reduction' event. From Thursday, May 9 through Saturday, May 11, customers can enjoy up to 70 percent off merchandise and enter for a chance to win $1,095 in Corinne Cash (one dollar for every day of construction). Exclusions apply. See a Store Associate for details."

Through the years, Corinne Jewelers has used creative messaging to "embrace" the construction project, referring to itself as "inconveniently located, but worth the trip." Corinne Jewelers would also use its outdoor signage to relay messages to drivers inevitably caught in horrific traffic delays on Route 166. "$12,000,000 for this?! Longest Construction Project Ever!" blared the sign on various occasions.

"This was done out of total frustration," said Blumenthal. "This project didn't just affect the businesses on that road. It's one of the most heavily traveled intersections in town. It affected everyone in town. That is why we are having this 'Over Construction Reduction' event. We believe our customers deserve a reward for enduring 1,095 days of rubble and gridlock."
