FORT MYERS, Fla. - Dec. 13, 2016 - PRLog -- As the end of 2016 draws near, the Fort Myers-based, 501(c)3 non-profit Laboratory Theater of Florida is inviting Fort Myers community members to take part in its continuing season and business expansions into 2017. As the year ends, and consideration of end-of-year charitable giving plans and the advantage of tax benefits starts, the theater is asking people to think of Laboratory Theater and contribute to a worthy, non-profit cause.

Future plans for the Laboratory Theater include the pursuit of buying a building to serve as its permanent home, as the current space is rented. Plans for 2017 also include expanding the existing education program and hiring more staff; these two foundational elements will play an important role in the theater's success and growth.

"I founded Lab Theater because I want everyone's voices to be heard," says founder and Artistic Director Annette Trossbach. "Theater is entertainment, but it's also thought-provoking, eye-opening, and healing."

What distinguishes the Laboratory Theater from other theaters in Southwest Florida is its balance of recognizable crowd-pleasing shows with lesser-known, outstanding work.Further considering what makes a theater successful, the theater is giving opportunities to new artists - playwrights, actors, directors, designers - all year long.

Donations and support from creative partners and business sponsors help to offset many expenses and underwrite specific areas of interest to those sponsors. For example, one donor gave money specifically for training people in lighting design. Other grants and donations can fund special lighting equipment, speakers, stage carpentry supplies, costumes, and other elements that make a production come to life.

Donations will help the theater keep on track with bringing the community toward conversations that make a difference in Southwest Florida.
