Dr. Somdutt Prasad: A Distinguished Faculty at the Cool Talks in Summer CME Event

KOLKATA, India - May 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Dr. Somdutt Prasad, a renowned ophthalmologist, was invited as a faculty in the two-day — May 2-3, 2015 — "Cool Talks in Summer CME" event organized by the Indian Railway Ophthalmic Physician Association (IROPA). The first day of the event was held at the auditorium of Dr. B. C. Roy Institute of Eastern Railway while the second day was held at the Auditorium (3rd Floor, OPD complex) of B R Singh Hospital, Sealdah, Kolkata.

Dr. Prasad was a faculty on the inaugural day of the event where the main topic of discussion was "Intravits Re-mastered.”The subjects discussed were:

·     Ideal procedure vitreal injections: Col. (Dr.) Sandeep Shankar

·     Chronology of awarding USFDA approval to all Intra-vitreal injections: Dr. J. Bhunia

·     Intra-vitreal injections in endophthalmitis: Dr. Devdulal Chakraborty

·     Intra-vitreal injections in Retinal Vein Occlusions: Dr. Pranab Das

·     Intra-vitreal injections in Diabetic Macular Edema: Dr. Abhijit Chattopadhyay

·     Intra-vitreal injections in Sub-retinal neovascularisation and others: Dr. Sudipta Das

·     Vitrectomy ... alternative or assistance to Intra-vit Injections: Dr. Subhendu Boral

The discussions were followed by a video on Intra-vitreal injection of implant and hands on skill developing programme of using Intra-vitreal Ozurdex implant.

"Keratitis re-visited" was the central topic of discussion on the second and last day of the event. Following issueswere discussed after Dr. Samar K. Basak delivered the keynote address.

Dr. Somdutt Prasad — MS, FRCSEd, FRCOphth, FACS and MFMLM — is currently a consultant ophthalmologist and retina specialist at B.B. Eye Foundation, AMRI and i4vision. He was previously a consultant ophthalmologist at the Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Wirral, UK, and a clinical lecturer at the University Of Sheffield & Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, UK. Dr. Prasad is active in the leading national and international ophthalmology societies and a regular faculty at the UK, European and American Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications and eight book chapters.
