Family House Hosts Gifting Gala To Showcase Importance Of Family Assistance Fund

Feb. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Family House is one of the largest hospital hospitality houses in the country. Its four houses provide affordable, convenient, attractive and comfortable places for patients to stay while awaiting treatment or tests. Family House also offers a supportive and nurturing environment for patients and families in which to heal.  

However, Family House also goes one step further: it provides financial assistance to those who do not have the means to access Family House’s already affordable accommodations. The Family Assistance Program was established in 1986 so that no family would ever be turned away due to financial limitations. Although all room fees are subsidized, the program cuts costs even more for low income guests and families. Additionally, the Family Assistance Fund helps those in need of dental, medical or optical care and often underwrites groceries and transportation funds to return home once a patient is released from the physician’s care.

The Family House Gifting Gala is on Saturday April 14th and benefits the Family Assistance Fund. At least $400,000 must be raised annually to maintain Family House and the Family Assistance Program.

Every dollar raised is used directly by Family House, with the majority of those dollars aiding Pennsylvania residents. The need today, is greater than ever: two years ago 11% of Family House’s guests qualified for and received Family Assistance. But now, due to the economic downturn 38% of Family House’s guests meet the financial and medical qualifications for Family Assistance.

The Gifting Gala is an elegant black-tie event of dinner and dancing while raising money for a wonderful cause. This year’s gala is at the Fairmont Hotel and will begin at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and a dinner to follow along with a silent auction and dancing.
