Jan. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- San Francisco – Branding is not something that concerns only large corporations. Product Managers, product marketing and business owners spend a lot of time figuring out positioning statements for their products to ensure that the product brand will stick. Recognizing the vast majority of us are not going to be working for the same company for the full length of our careers, we need to make sure we spend some time building our own personal brand. Today our brand is the digital footprint  of our presence on social media, like it or not. Owning your personal brand means owning your personal future. Personal branding not only allows you to harness your essence in the here and now – it gives you the base to build on as you grow, change and meet the future. When you own how you are presented today both online and off, you are one step closer to owning where you will be tomorrow.

Each week, The Global Product Management Talk is a real time event featuring an expert guest speaker who asks questions of the participants on Twitter in a Socratic discussion. The speaker and co-hosts broadcast their audio comments over BlogTalkRadio. The transcript of Tweets and podcast are available after the live event online and as a mobile application in the Android and iTunes marketplaces.

Mary Ellen Miller,  President and CEO of MarketingMel will be speaking at the weekly Global Product Management Talk on Twitter Monday, January 23, 2012 at 5:00 PM Pacific Time, which will be Tuesday, January 17 at 12:00 AM Australian Time using the hashtag #prodmgmttalk

The Global Product Management Talk was conceived by Cindy F. Solomon, a San Francisco Bay Area certified product manager in 2011 when Adrienne Tan, founder of brainmates, an Australian product management company, responded to her tweet to bring international product managers together with experts in the field.

The "Global Product Management Talk" was initially conceived as a virtual forum where people who manage products situated globally could interact in real time with product management thought leaders.  The Global Product Management Talk raises the bar for what is possible to accomplish in a real time, open platform event on Twitter by encouraging participants to expand their knowledge base with each event, utilize new products in real time as we introduce and beta test various products for participating, enable participants to showcase their knowledge and share resources, and crowdsource educational content for product people to stay apprised of new developments, thinkers, and events in the practice of managing products from inception to market and innovation.

The Global Product Management Talk on Twitter, since its inception in February 2011, has had a clear focus on cultivating a community of international hi-tech professionals within product management, product marketing and related professional domains. It is the largest Twitter Chat with this focus in the world, recently generating 449,319 impressions, reaching an audience of 35,703 followers with re-tweets occurring for days and weeks following the hour event. All of the content is available following the event as a mobile app for both Android and iPhone devices.

Weekly, Solomon produces the event, curating guest speakers, and inviting participation via social media. The speaker and co-hosts discuss Twitter comments which are broadcast live over BlogTalkRadio, while active participation is taking place digitally within the Twitter stream using a a social media chat tool to filter out the hashtag #prodmgmttalk. Following the event, both the written transcript of tweets and the recording of the audio discussion are available for viewing & listening on social media and iTunes platforms.  Participants are encouraged to expand upon their statements and insights by blogging to continue the conversation.  All of the content from the event is packaged into an eBook to further extend the value and reach of the subject matter.
