The year is 1975, and cub reporter Clay Moore is assigned to cover the case of the “Red-Haired Stranger;” however, after 30 intense days of torrid news coverage, the case is abruptly closed without the slightest hint of resolution. As he resumes investigating the matter further, a gangland-style murder occurs in Atlanta, and in the ensuing fallout from the crime, Clay finds himself arrested and under increasing suspicion.
