John G. Browning is the recipient of the 2016 Lola Wright Foundation Award

DALLAS - Feb. 16, 2016 - PRLog -- The Texas Bar Foundation has announced that Passman & Jones shareholder John G. Browning is the recipient of the 2016 Lola Wright Foundation Award, presented annually to a Texas attorney "in recognition for outstanding public service in advancing and enhancing legal ethics in Texas."  Nominators like Jonathan Smaby, Executive Director of the Texas Center for Legal Ethics, pointed to Browning's years as a prolific speaker and writer on legal ethics topics, as well as his status as "one of the nation's foremost experts in legal ethics and social media."  Chief Justice Carolyn Wright of the Dallas Court of Appeals, another nominator, said Browning "raised the bar for commitment to professionalism and promoting ethics and integrity in the legal profession," and called him "unquestionably one of the finest nominees ever submitted for the Lola Wright Foundation Award."

State Bar President-elect Frank Stevenson cited not only Browning's extensive ethics-related Bar and CLE activities but also "his successful representation of clients" as placing him in "the highest echelon of Texas lawyers."  Other nominations highlighted Browning's ethics contributions as an internationally-recognized law professor and as a number of the Professional Ethics Committee of the State Bar and as a member of the State Bar Grievance Committee.

John G. Browning will receive the award during the Texas Bar Foundation's black tie gala dinner during the Annual Meeting of the State Bar of Texas on June 17, 2016.  In addition, the Foundation will make a $5,000 donation in Browning's name to the charity of his choice.
