Second Five Rivers' author inducted into CSFFA’s Hall of Fame

CALGARY, Alberta - Dec. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- The Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association inducted a second Five Rivers author, H. A. Hargreaves, into the Hall of Fame. The CSFFA Hall of Fame is awarded to individuals recognized for their outstanding lifetime achievements to Canadian science fiction and fantasy. The CSFFA’s Hall of Fame has only been awarded eight times since it was originally established as the Lifetime Achievement Aurora 35 years ago.

H.A. Hargreaves is recognized as one of Canada’s legendary science fiction writers. His 1975 collection of short fiction was the very first to be marketed as ‘Canadian Science Fiction’. Dr. Robert Runté, Five Rivers Publishing's senior editor, notes that North by 2000+ is quintessential Canadian literature that resonates with the Canadian mindset, reflecting our unique sense of national identity and self-image. These stories established Canadian speculative fiction as distinct and worthy of international attention and continue to influence many Canadian SF authors today.

Earlier this year, another Five Rivers' author, Dave Duncan, was inducted into the CSFFA Hall of Fame at a ceremony at V-Con 40 in Vancouver. His books have been translated into fifteen different languages. He is also a founding and lifetime honorary member of SF Canada, Canada's association of speculative fiction professionals. Duncan is known for his distinctive writing style, melding complex characters and magical systems with exciting narratives.



Five Rivers is honoured to have two of its authors inducted into the CSFFA Hall of Fame.
