Follow on Google News | Funiot Brings Immersive “Iron Man Experience” To The Gaming CommunityVirtual reality startup Funiot is launching Force Glove at the TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco. The device will allow its users to control video games using natural hand gestures.
By: Funiot The glove is designed to simulate a “second skin” feel and is optimized for maximum comfort and ventilation. The device features IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) sensors that detect motion in each individual finger, the back of the hand, and in the wrist, allowing users to easily control games via their hand motions. Additional sensors placed at the tip of each finger provide vibration (haptic) feedback based on the gamer’s actions. As the only gaming device that combines both IMU and Haptic feedback sensors, Force Glove is the first device to provide such a keen level of accuracy which has never been available before. The gizmo employs Bluetooth technology to connect with PC, Playstation or Xbox. Its battery offers three to five hours of uninterrupted game. Games that are compatible with the Force Glove are not currently available on the market. However, developers of the product are working on key mapping software that would support existing games. In addition, Funiot is going to release Force Glove SDK for other developers, which will create infinite opportunities for its use in the future. The company’s founders have many years of experience in developing glove technology to assist stroke patients in recovering their hand mobility as well as in manufacturing hardware/software consumer electronics. “The idea of Force Glove was born back in 2010. We were inspired by the movie Iron Man and wanted to create a device enabling you to seamlessly control your technology with natural hand gestures. Now, after 4 years of research and development, we are proud to bring “The Iron Man Experience” to every gamer around the world.” Said Jongkuk Lim, one of the founders of Funiot. Virtual reality is a rapidly evolving market, thus providing unlimited opportunities while attracting lots of newcomers. It is already being used in several industries such as: tourism, advertising, healthcare, journalism and real estate to name a few. With 1.2 billion gamers worldwide, its impact on gaming in the near future is going to excel beyond all other applications. Funiot is proud to be among the pioneers in this industry and will introduce the working Force Glove prototype at the TechCrunch Disrupt on September 21-23, 2015. The device will be available at a later date for pre-order on Kickstarter starting at $99, and will hit retail in spring of 2016. End
