NTH Consultants, Ltd. Hosts 'A Supernova in the Lab' Webinar

NORTHVILLE, Mich. - May 18, 2015 - PRLog -- NTH Consultants, Ltd. (http://www.nthconsultants.com/) (NTH) will be hosting a free webinar on May 21 at 12:00 pm ET to showcase MSU’s National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL), one of the world’s leading rare isotope research facilities. The NSCL accelerates stable nuclei to half the speed of light and fragments them on a target to produce isotopes that don’t exist on Earth and researchers study them before they decay in less than a second. The secrets learned could help explain what happens in supernovae and the origins of elements that make up the human body.

In addition, project leaders will provide an update on the construction of MSU's $730 million Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) including the project’s scope, timing, and construction progress to date. The FRIB will be a new national user facility for nuclear science, funded by the Department of Energy Office of Science, Michigan State University (MSU), and the State of Michigan. MSU has begun constructing the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams, a DOE Office of Science project to design and establish a world-leading laboratory that will push the boundaries of nuclear science.
