-- : Life is a mixture of experiences that we often label negative, positive, or neutral. Sometimes
negative experiences stay with us. We may even keep them active by thinking and dealing on the memory. Over time, those experiences can affect our emotional and physical health. Taking a few proactive steps can drastically help us release the negative emotions associated with negative experiences. To begin the process, honor your feelings and emotions and give yourself permission to feel the way you do. Next, notice what you could and could not have done differently at the time. Forgive yourself for your part in the event. Look to what lessons you learned about yourself and the world because of the experience. Look at what you have decided about yourself and the world as a result. Are these things true? Do the serve and support you?
If you have beliefs or have made decisions about yourself, other people or the way life “is”, notice if these thoughts serve you. If they are keeping you upset, unhappy or limited, it might be time to consider that you can release them and think a different way. EFT, or tapping is a perfect way to release regrets, anger, and sadness that is holding you back. While you can find many resources on the internet, a qualified practitioner can help you release a lot of emotion quickly and safely, and can even teach you how to use the process on your own.
While it may be tough to hear, the final step is forgiveness. That is sometimes the most difficult step. If you aren’t 100% ready to forgive, see if you can forgive just 3%. Trying to “fake” forgiveness only reinforces the negativity and hinders your recovery. There is no better time than right now to begin your personal releasing experience.
