NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Sept. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Millions of Americans struggle with overeating and binge eating issues. Those habits and lifestyle choices do not occur overnight, thus moving past them is a long and thoughtful process. Simple steps to begin the process of overcoming overeating include

It’s better to eat several SMALL meals through the day.  Skipping meals sets up feelings of being deprived. And sets your body to store fat.

Tune in to yourself – what are you hungry for and why.  Are you really craving ice cream, or the feeling of safety you had when you were little and your parents handled everything?

Slow down.  Put your fork down BEFORE you chew!  Put the sandwich down BEFORE you chew. Pay attention to each tiny bite and ENJOY it!

Tune in again – stop eating when you are reasonably satisfied. Box it up, save it for later.

Know your portion sizes. Portions served today are much larger than in years past.

Avoid all-you-can-eat buffets.  At buffets or parties, take a teaspoon of all the different foods that you want.  That way you can try everything, and avoid feeling too full later.

Drink a glass of water prior to every meal. Hunger masquerades as thirst!

Plan ahead – if you have a long day, provision for it, just as you might if you were going on a long hike. Pack lunches instead of eating out during work hours.

Join a support group such as Overeaters Anonymous or Weight Watchers, or Healthy Weight at Every Size at

Get the help of an EFT coach to handle emotions and emotional eating.  Hypnosis can be used to create the same effect as Lap-Band surgery, at a fractipon of the cost and no risk at all.

Using simple steps that do not interfere with normal life is the safest and easiest way to replacing overeating habits with healthy eating habits. When beginning this process,  set realistic goals and expectations. Start slow and remember that every step is a step in the right direction. Following these simple steps  will go a long way toward changing eating habits and becoming more aware of what you eat.
