LOS ANGELES - Jan. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- The Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS have received a new system menu update.  This update brings the current version of the Nintendo 3DS XL menu to v7.1.0-14u.  The update is available for all Nintendo hand held systems world wide.

The updates for the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS often bring with them new features for the worlds most popular hand held systems.  Each new update however runs that risk of rendering the R4 3DS and other flashcards unrecognized in the Nintendo 3DS systems.

As a result, the R4 3DS Cards have also been updated with a new firmware kernel release.  The 7.1.0 update came just 10 days after the v7.0.0 update was released, for which the R4 3DS line of 3DS Flashcards received a new kernel release, to bring back compatibility and homebrew / multimedia features to the 3DS, 3DS XL and 2DS systems.  The latest v7.1.0-14 menu system release however does not require a new firmware download for the R4 cards.

If you installed the latest 7.0.0 kernel for the R4 3DS, then your current firmware kernel will continue to work and already has support built in for the v7.1.0-14 version as well.

According to the official release Version 7.1.0-14U available via wireless Internet connection includes the following improvements:

- Improved system stability and usability:

- Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

If however you did not update your R4 3DS card to the newest firmware kernel to supper the 7.0.0 main menu system version you will need to update your card now. Firmware updates are always free to download from the official R43ds.org homepage for all of the official R4 3DS cards.

Installation of the update is quick and easy.  Simply drag and drop the new firmware files over to the micro SD Card used in your R4 card.  This will then overwrite all of the old files and upon first boot on your 3DS, 3DS XL or Nintendo 2DS System, you will see the new v7.1.0-14 compatible firmware running on your card.
