LOS ANGELES - Oct. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- A new system software update has been released for the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL systems.  The new version of the system OS is now at 3DS 6.3.0 and brings with it additional eShop features as well as bug fixes for bugs that were discovered in the 6.2.0 updates

Another update means that most R4 3DS owners have to make sure that prior to their updating their Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 3DS XL systems, that they have a new firmware kernel file on their cards.  Without the updated firmware kernel, they will not be able to use the R4 3DS card on the latest update.

While most of these flash carts will always need an update with every single new system OS release, there are the exceptions with cards that are running a dual core processor and have the ability to have larger firmware files.  The exceptions to this 6.3.0 update come in the form of two different brands of the R4 are working just fine, without the need to put a new kernel on their cards at all.

The R4 3DS Dual Core card is one that does not need any new firmware kernel in order to work with the latest 6.3.0 update.  The Dual Core card brings with it additional storage space for the firmware kernel rom files, which enables the developers that create the new firmware to add extra support against any future updates.  This isn't the first time that the R4 3DS Dual Core cards have been able to continue to work without any firmware changes.  And it certainly won't be the last either.  While many other brands of flash cartridges will not be recognized without new kernel software, this card continues to work.

The R4 3DS RTS cards are also working without any requirement for any updates to the firmware or kernel on the cards at all.  From the 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 and now this latest 6.3.0 system update, the RTS cards have also provided continued and uninterrupted compatibility with all 3DS and 3DS XL systems.  This is due to the extra memory these cards have, and the double processor built in, which in turn enables them to load and run homebrew games and apps and offer continued compatibility with even new updates, a feature that most other brands of cards simply can not offer due to their limits.

With more and more system software updates being released, now, more then ever before, choosing the right card that offers a good mix of price and support from the manufacturers is more and more important.  In past years, updates came once or twice a year.  With the latest trend in system software updates for the Nintendo 3DS systems, that has changed to an update every 6-7 weeks.  Choosing a card that is both affordable and has the ability to continue working throughout these new releases ensures that users have uninterrupted access to their homebrew and freeware games, application and emulators.

You can find out more about both the R4 3DS Dual Core as well as the R4 3DS RTS cards at the official R4 store at http://www.r43ds.org both for a detailed list of products and pricing as well as firmware update files for all of the official brands of the R4 3DS cards.
