Soundclash Beat Battle w/ the Legendary Producer Ski Beatz and Nesby Phips, New Orleans' Premier

Feb. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Ski Beatz’s production appears on a classic album (Reasonable Doubt) that is included on numerous best album lists by music publications, including The Source, Blender, and Rolling Stone, which ranked it on their list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Ski produced "Feelin' It", "Politics As Usual", "Dead Presidents II", and "22 Two's". Reasonable Doubt has been certified Platinum by the RIAA. Ski Beatz also has primary production on Camp Lo's debut project Uptown Saturday Night  spawning the Hip-Hop classic Luchini (This Is It).  Ski Beatz also has worked extensively with hometown hero Curren$y on Pilot Talk I, Pilot Talk II, and they've recently announced that they'll be working on Pilot Talk III soon. In addition, Ski has ties to New Orleans working with homegrown talent such as Nesby Phips, Dee-1 and Jay Electronica. Ski has also worked with industry heavyweights and legends such as Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Jean Grae, Mos Def, Big Punisher, Nas, and Jay-Z. Ski will judge the beat battle with accomplished emcee/producer Nesby Phips. Besides being the main producer on his various projects, Phips has worked with some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop such as Lil Wayne, Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Stalley, Fiend, Ski Beatz, Juvenile, Reem, Mack Maine, Tabi Boney + more. Phips crafted underground classics like Wiz Khalifa’s Kush & Orange Juice with ‘Supply’ as well as Curren$y’s Smokey Robinson with ‘Mazaltov Cocktail’. Phips also has collaborations with Ski Beatz including ‘Blue & Green Enthusiast’,  a remake of Jazz great Miles Davis composition ‘Blue & Green’. Phips recent project 0017th: Hollygrove Ain’t Enough, includes some of Phips finest rhymes. It also includes up-and-coming emcees Jay Jones, Rock of Da U Boys, and veterans such as Curren$y, Fiend, Kango Slimm of PNC, Mack Maine, Skip of UTP Records, and Juvenile.

The Soundclash was started in October 2008 and has had over 350+ local and national performers and several producers in and outside of the New Orleans area. The Soundclash is integral part to the New Orleans Hip Hop scene and serves as a networking hub for artist, producers, videographers, publicist, managers, engineers, fans, etc. The Soundclash also serves as a platform for up-and-coming as well as established artist to be heard. Artist such as Curren$y, Dee-1, 3DNa'Tee, Nesby Phips, Joe Scudda, Rapper Big Pooh, Skyzoo, have all performed at The Soundclash.

The Soundclash is hosted by Wes B and 3rd Mind w/ DJ RQ Away providing sounds for the night. The featured performers are Jay Jones, Tacaloc and C.I.T.Y. in addition to the open mic performances. Ski Beatz will also be performing a special beat showcase.
