April 17, 2012 - PRLog -- DCM takes a closer look at the chair of Kent Police Federation launching a scathing attack on Kent Police over its announcement that officer numbers would be increasing. Ian Pointon dismissed it as “spin” and said that some officers had actually seen reductions in pay just four days ago. His comments followed an announcement by Chief Constable Ian Learmonth who said recommendations from the Winsor review – which is looking into police pay – would mean Kent Police would be recruiting more officers. DCM and many readers were confused to these announcements as they totally contradict each other. The Managing Director of DCM said, ‘it is definitely true you should not believe everything you read in the papers. It would seem only those that are in the policing industry would know the real facts of what is happening within the police department.’

This is despite £50m savings needed over four years to 2014/15, involving cuts of 500 police officer posts and 1,000 civilian jobs. Mr Pointon said recommendations in part one of the Windsor review actually involved reduced pay for many officers from April 1. “I find it rather insensitive that, just four days later, Kent Police has chosen to turn these pay cuts into what they clearly think is a good news story,” he said. “Let me be clear, those I represent don’t see it as good news. Officers feel as if their pockets have been picked and will view the force’s announcement as a smack in the mouth. The claim that we will be able to start increasing officer numbers in Kent again is nothing more than spin.

His fierce response came after Mr Learmonth’s “upbeat” announcement. Chief Constable Ian Learmonth said: “We planned early in Kent for the £50m saving we needed to make. “We are on track on delivering those savings, and Kent has also seen an overall reduction in crime in the past year of around four per cent. Recommendations from the Winsor review mean that any savings made will mean we will be in a position much earlier than expected to recruit more officers.

DCM is a local sales and marketing company and knows the importance of increasing law enforcement in our local area with a source saying, ‘keeping our community safe is a top priority. This can only be done with a dedicated police force. Decisions that back fire creates animosity and a terrible working environment. What has enables DCM to be one of the most successful sales and marketing company in Kent is ensuring that everyone is on the same page and decisions are made for the benefit of all stakeholders.’
