The RecruitMilitary- On March 24, the U.S. Chamber had already launched “Business Steps Up: Hiring Our Heroes,” a year-long effort to help veterans and their spouses find employment by means of veteran hiring events. The U.S. Chamber has scheduled more than 100 Hiring Our Heroes events across the nation through March 2012. Already scheduled to attend the Kansas CIty event are A Buyer’s Choice Home Inspections, Allstate, Bayer Corporation, Brown Mackie College, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, DeVry University, Georgia School of Construction, Grand Canyon University, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Lockheed Martin Corporation, Multi Service Corporation, Nalco Energy Services – Downstream, New Horizons Computer Learning Center, Northrop Grumman, Quintiles Phase I Services, The Art Institutes, Time Warner Cable, TMX Finance, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the National Cemetery Administration of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, the National Veterans Employment Program (NVEP) of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Vatterott Educational Centers Inc., and Walgreens. RecruitMilitary will produce 8 additional Hiring Our Heroes/RecruitMilitary Veteran Opportunity Expos in 2011—on October 27 in Jacksonville, November 3 in Philadelphia and Seattle, November 10 in Dallas, November 17 in Charlotte and Norfolk, December 1 in San Diego, and December 8 in Houston. To maximize the number of employers participating in those events as well as the job opportunities for veterans and military spouses, RecruitMilitary is offering companies that are members of the U.S. Chamber and local chambers a 10% discount on the cost of their exhibition booths. Additionally, RecruitMilitary will offer further price reductions for small businesses (businesses that have less than 50 employees), and even lower rates for veteran-owned small businesses.
