RecruitMilitary and U.S. Chamber Collaborating on Veteran Hiring Event in Kansas City on October 20
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the military-to-civilian recruitment firm RecruitMilitary will collaborate on a hiring event for military veterans at Historic Uptown Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri, on Thursday, October 20.
On March 24, the U.S. Chamber had already launched “Business Steps Up: Hiring Our Heroes,” a year-long effort to help veterans and their spouses find employment by means of veteran hiring events. The U.S. Chamber has scheduled more than 100 Hiring Our Heroes events across the nation through March 2012.
Already scheduled to attend the Kansas CIty event are A Buyer’s Choice Home Inspections, Allstate, Bayer Corporation, Brown Mackie College, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, DeVry University, Georgia School of Construction, Grand Canyon University, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Lockheed Martin Corporation, Multi Service Corporation, Nalco Energy Services – Downstream, New Horizons Computer Learning Center, Northrop Grumman, Quintiles Phase I Services, The Art Institutes, Time Warner Cable, TMX Finance, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the National Cemetery Administration of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, the National Veterans Employment Program (NVEP) of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Vatterott Educational Centers Inc., and Walgreens.
RecruitMilitary will produce 8 additional Hiring Our Heroes/RecruitMilitary Veteran Opportunity Expos in 2011—on October 27 in Jacksonville, November 3 in Philadelphia and Seattle, November 10 in Dallas, November 17 in Charlotte and Norfolk, December 1 in San Diego, and December 8 in Houston.
To maximize the number of employers participating in those events as well as the job opportunities for veterans and military spouses, RecruitMilitary is offering companies that are members of the U.S. Chamber and local chambers a 10% discount on the cost of their exhibition booths. Additionally, RecruitMilitary will offer further price reductions for small businesses (businesses that have less than 50 employees), and even lower rates for veteran-owned small businesses.
The U.S. Chamber (http://www.uschamber.com) is the world’s largest business federation, representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations. The Chamber’s mission is "to advance human progress through an economic, political, and social system based on individual freedom, incentive, initiative, opportunity, and responsibility.”
The company also offers employers search licenses to its database of more than 430,000 registered veteran job seekers, retained hiring services, and online and print advertising space. RecruitMilitary distributes more than 36,000 copies of each issue of Search & Employ, its bimonthly print magazine, to over 220 military bases throughout the world, National Guard and reserve units, and job seekers who attend its Expos.
RecruitMilitary is based in Loveland, Ohio (Greater Cincinnati), and was founded in 1998 by Drew Myers, a former Captain in the United States Marine Corps. All of the company’s owners, officers, and senior account executives have served in the armed forces.
