Montgomery County Toastmasters Club hears two inspirational speeches!

Aug. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- The Montgomery County Toastmasters Club of Hillsboro, IL met at the Challacombe house on 8-16-11.  The evening's events were thoroughly entertaining.  Two first time guests were also present:  Jamie Powers and Sandy Everett.  Ashley Lawrence served as the Toastmaster or Master of Ceremonies.  

The first speaker was one of the club's newest members, Nita Markos of Hillsboro.  Nita delivered only her 3rd speech as a Toastmasters member.  Nita is a professional quiltmaker who has several of her quilts on displays throughout the United States right now.  She gave a demonstration speech to the club, during which she demonstrated some of her 'art quilting techniques' using quilting squares and different colors of paint.

The second speaker was Todd Austin, DTM from Virden, IL.  Austin gave a basic Toastmaster manual presentation called "Chiropractic, Football & Foxes!".  It was about his newest passion that's been keeping him busy this summer, working as the official  sideline Chiropractic Physician for a Central IL semi-professional football team called the Springfield Foxes.  Austin even brought along a 39 lb. visual aide to show the club, his official Austin Family Chiropractic / Springfield Foxes portable sideline adjusting table.  The table was custom made with both company and team names and logos screen-printed on it.  

Kim Noyes was in charge of the impromptu speaking part of the program.  She called several members of the club up to the front of the room.   Then she informed them that they were all vying for the job of President of the United States!  Kim served as the moderator.  Each 'presidential candidate' then had 2 minutes to speak about what he or she would do if elected.  This made for some rather entertaining responses.

The club will next meet on Tuesday, 9-6-11 at the Challlacombe House in Hillsboro from 7 PM to 8 P.M.. Guests are always welcome. The prepared speakers for the next meeting will be Todd Austin & Ronda Meyer.
