Working a low-paying job at a local car wash and living in a run-down motor hotel with his father and sister, Jack is accustomed to a life of mediocrity. All of that soon changes, though, when he notices his boss and fellow co-workers increasingly engaged in some rather suspicious activity. Eventually, Jack learns the truth behind the mystery when his boss recruits him to become part of a secret vigilante operation designed to “solve some of the problems that the city suffers from.” Joined by his good friend, Parm, Jack soon embarks on a series of adventures - and misadventures - the results of which will leave neither unsuspecting young man quite the same...

With an effective balance of wit and suspense, Owe Nothing is an equally compelling and entertaining read. In skillful fashion, author E. John Love has crafted an enjoyable tale of a lovable loser in search of a bit of adventure - who quickly finds that he’s bit off a little more than he can chew. As such, in Jack, Love has created quite the sympathetic protagonist: a ne’er-do-well everyman with which readers from all backgrounds are sure to relate. And, as he gets in deeper and deeper over his head, Jack’s exploits will no doubt remind us of the unexpected prices we tend to pay for a simple taste of the greener pastures that surround us.
