| ![]() "Creation Was Survival": St. Pete Artist Launches Modern Circles Amid Personal Crisis"i'm not back. I'm still climbing." artist christopher julian hile channels chaos into modern digital art & reflective writing
By: HIle-Co. Now, he's launching the Modern Circles Collection, a series of digital artworks born from the wreckage — layered, minimal, and emotionally charged. The pieces reflect Hile's own story: beautiful, but not polished; complete, but still in process. "I don't want pity. I want to be useful," Hile says. "If someone sees one of these pieces and feels a little less alone in their own mess — that's the goal." This new collection comes after a year marked by extreme personal upheaval. Facing a second cancer diagnosis likely linked to his father's exposure to Agent Orange during Vietnam, a legal situation that left him financially devastated (while maintaining his innocence), and the loss of his home, Hile began designing digital art from a borrowed laptop in a friend's spare room. "I didn't know what else to do, so I started creating. That's what saved me." The Modern Circles Collection is currently available for licensing, digital download, and direct purchase for both private collectors and design professionals. It's part of Hile's larger goal: to merge modern art and meaningful storytelling across multiple channels — including interior design, editorial collaborations, and commercial use. In addition to the collection, Hile recently released YOUR LIFE between moments — a guided journal of 155 questions for radical self-reflection. Designed to help people "stop performing their lives and start living them," the book dives into the questions we hope no one ever asks — because those are usually the ones that matter most. Both the art and the writing emerged from the same place: grief, uncertainty, and a refusal to give up. "I didn't have the luxury of waiting to feel better first. Creation wasn't optional—it was survival." Though still undergoing treatment and living in housing insecurity, Hile refuses to wait for the perfect moment to reintroduce himself to the world. "I have no idea what's coming next. But I know I'm not hiding anymore." About the Modern Circles Collection
