| GAPS Partners with PeQue for Art Revitalization in GaryBy: Gary Alumni Pathway To Students "We are excited to partner with the Legacy Foundation to bring this project to life," said Lisa Bennett, interim Executive Director of GAPS. "This grant will allow us to engage local youth and create a lasting tribute to the heroes of Gary, inspiring pride and community connection." In early March, renowned artist and Gary native PeQue will collaborate with local middle school students on original artwork. The murals will honor local heroes and be displayed on billboards throughout the city. PeQue, known for his murals of Vice President Kamala Harris and sports legends Landon Donovan and Cobi Jones, is eager to work with the next generation of artists in his hometown. "It's incredible to return to Gary and use art to connect young people to the city's rich history," said PeQue. GAPS' mission is to connect alumni, businesses, and community stakeholders with students to promote academic, career, and life success. This project aligns with GAPS' goals of fostering community pride and offering youth opportunities for creative expression.
