Why: During the 2020 hurricane season, two "level 4" hurricanes, "Eta & Iota," struck the Caribbean and Central America causing extensive loss of life, destruction of livestock, homes and the devastation of economies. The storms exacerbated the struggle of the survivors as the result of the global Covid-19 pandemic that began March 2020. Although media attention has waned, the humanitarian crisis remains for the survivors. (Situation Report Video narrated by Felipe N. Noguera)

Receiving news of the continuing crisis from residents of Honduras, Nicaragua and Jamaica, The Black Emergency Managers Association International (BEMA) teamed up with Mambo Mundo and New Orleans South Africa Connection (NOSACONN) to organize "Operacion Asentamientos Humanos" in less than 30 days.  The partnership has resulted in an on-going disaster preparedness and relief campaign. It has kicked off with OAH Christmas Maskerade Disaster Relief Concert & Fundraiser. Visit and for details.

Focus on Honduras, Nicaragua and Jamaica is the result of BEMA, Mambo Mundo and NOSACONN Inc. knowing and trusting on the ground relief workers and organizations that will give direct aid to survivors in need. Organizers are giving assistance where it is most needed as survivors rebuild their lives, homes, economies.
