Something Wickedly Fun This Way Comes

BETHANY BEACH, Del. - Oct. 5, 2018 - PRLog -- What happens when two friends, passionate about community and business partnerships, come together?  An amazing new fundraising event designed to showcase our stellar local restaurants and entice locals and visitors alike to engage with them in a fun way – all the while supporting a worthy non-profit organization; one that, in one way or another, touches us all…introducing Spirits of Halloween!

Karen Kampmann, creator of I Love Bethany Beach, wanted a cool inaugural fundraising event with a Halloween theme (her favorite holiday) for the Bethany Beach area and approached Lisa Condon, president of Cocktails Curing Cancer, about it.  The two put their heads together, along with board members Regina Ashcraft and Christine Bohner, and have created what they hope to be a singular and memorable fundraising event for all in honor of Nancy Hoeflich, a board member of Cocktails Curing Cancer who recently passed away.  The funds raised during this almost two-week-long event will benefit the Beebe Healthcare Cancer Center, who happens to be breaking ground on their new facility in Millville on November 1^st.

So, what is Spirits of Halloween?  Here's the breakdown:

From October 19^th through October 31^st, participating Bethany Beach area restaurants will have signature Halloween cocktails created by their awesome bartenders.  Folks are encouraged to visit and taste during this time period and vote for their favorites (portions of their bills will be donated to Cocktails Curing Cancer much like a Dine & Donate).  Patrons who visit all of the participating restaurants and submit their completed 'Cocktail Tickets' will be entered into a grand prize drawing that will include gift certificates to all of the participating restaurants. November 1^st is the culminating event, the Costume Ball, where the top three bartenders will compete for the Devil's Cup (and huge bragging rights) judged by a celebrity panel.  Bethany Blues of Bethany is honored to close their restaurant – Burger Night at that – for this worthy event.  In addition to music, dancing and great food, Cocktails Curing Cancer will have their signature auction for an all-inclusive 6-night trip for two to Africa; there will also be the grand prize drawing (for patrons who visited all of the participating restaurants leading up to the ball), prizes for the best Bethany Beach and African themed costumes as well as best overall costume (and perhaps a surprise or two thrown in).

There are three levels of tickets available for the ball:

The Mike Myers VIP - $125 each (40 tickets available at this level) - includes early entry, unlimited beverages, private VIP area, swag bag (with custom event shirt) and heavy hors d'oeuvres.

The Jason Voorhees - $75 each (60 tickets available at this level) – includes a free cocktail, custom event shirt and heavy hors d'oeuvres.

The Freddy Krueger - $40 each (100 tickets available at this level) – includes heavy hors d'oeuvres.

"We've been fundraising for the Beebe Healthcare Cancer Center for four years now, each year being able to give more," said Lisa; "Last year we donated $10,000; this year we hope to significantly increase that with this collaborative, inclusive – and fun – event!"  When asked why she chose to partner with Lisa and Cocktails Curing Cancer for I Love Bethany Beach's inaugural fundraising event, Karen replied, "Lisa's a good friend and open to partnering – another lover of local – and the cause is something extremely personal for me right now.  I love that this organization isn't about one specific cancer; it's inclusive of all, allowing everyone to support each other and help the growth of an outstanding local cancer center."
