Urban Relief Organization to Receive Tech Donation on Giving Tuesday

The Electronic Recycling Association to present 8 computers to Vancouver's Harvest Project

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Nov. 28, 2016 - PRLog -- The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) will be presenting Harvest Project with a donation of 8 computers on November 29th, which is Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is a nation-wide initiative that promotes giving-back on the Tuesday immediately following the consumer sales and material focus of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

"We are extremely excited to present Harvest Project with this donation on Giving Tuesday," says Bojan Paduh, founder and president of the ERA. "This donation is one of five we will make on the 29th, totalling nearly 60 computers across 5 cities. It is so important going into the holidays to remember that there are lots of people struggling right now, and Giving Tuesday is a really positive reminder and great platform through which we can give back."

"Harvest Project is very grateful to receive this valuable donation to update and grow our old computing systems. This will directly help us better manage our clients data and lower our overhead so we can channel more funding into our core programs," Gary Ansell, Executive Director at Harvest Project.

Media representatives are invited to attend and cover this donation story as ERA presents Harvest Project with 8 computers.

About the Electronic Recycling Association

Established in 2004, ERA is a non-profit organization directed to reduce the environmental impact of improperly discarded toxic electronic waste by offering accessible services to help corporations and individuals manage their retiring IT assets. Through industry leading pickup, data removal and reporting/certification services, ERA provides a full-circle solution for e-waste management. With reuse being ERA's top priority, every item that is received is examined for any remaining productive life and refurbished for reuse. True end of life items are transferred to accredited recyclers where a nil landfill contribution can be assured. ERA is committed to supporting local charities and individuals in need through the provision of electronic equipment to charities and individuals alike.

About Harvest Project

Harvest Project is a registered charity -  a grassroots, volunteer-driven community organization that reaches out to hundreds of vulnerable people who are facing the threat of urban poverty. We provide a safety-net that is built on helping the whole-person.

Our focus:

Reaching out to individuals and families on Metro-Vancouver's North Shore challenged by family break-down, illness, job loss and poverty

Providing client-care coaching + counsel, grocery + clothing support, emergency drop-in help, Clothes For Change thrift shop

Impacting the community by breaking the poverty cycle and restoring people to participation in work, school and a healthier family life

We look to our neighbours across Metro-Vancouver for our resources – volunteering, providing donated goods (groceries) and 100 % of our financial support. Returning our neighbours to stable, healthier lives not only transforms their lives, but benefits the whole community. Harvest Project 'extends a hand up, not a hand-out'.
