Follow on Google News | Community Assistance Group to Receive Tech Donation on Giving TuesdayThe Electronic Recycling Association to present 14 computers to Manitoba's Riverton & District Friendship Centre
"We are extremely excited to present Friendship Centre with this donation on Giving Tuesday," says Bojan Paduh, founder and president of ERA. "This donation is one of five we will make on the 29th, totalling nearly 60 computers across 5 cities. It is so important going into the holidays to remember that there are lots of people struggling right now, and Giving Tuesday is a really positive reminder and great platform through which we can give back." Friendship Centre acts as a referral service to anyone wishing to contact officials of the provincial, municipal or federal governments and agencies in such areas as employment assistance, housing, pensions, employment insurance and income tax. "With the addition of 14 new computers for our centre we will be able to provide a wider range of access for the Community," says Tanis Grimolfson, executive director of Friendship Centre. "Many of our clients from the north are shy about using the computers and/or asking for help at the school, but find it easier to ask for help here at the Centre. During the day locals who do not have a home computer come in to read something online, or write a book, or learn more before they buy a personal computer. Having more available that can be set up for different types of use only adds to our support of Riverton and the surrounding areas." Media representatives are invited to attend and cover this donation story as ERA presents Friendship Centre with 14 computers.
