Bowen is experienced in public relations and marketing with a background in media relations, social media, website management, internal communications, publication design and photography. Bowen graduated from Malone University and is pursuing a Master's degree in public relations at Kent State University. She most recently worked at the University of Mount Union as media relations manager. Previously, she worked as a news reporter for The Alliance Review. "I enjoy working in higher education; it provides so many unique challenges and I enjoy working with and mentoring students," said Bowen. While at Mount Union, Bowen served as the the editor of Mount Union Magazine and created the UMU Experts Faculty Speaking Series which led to media coverage from the Associated Press, national media and a feature story on ABC Nightline.
