Fine Artist, Sonya Cuellar, selected by Sundance Cinemas via StudioVox for Gallery Exhibition

HOUSTON - July 7, 2016 - PRLog -- Fine Art Painter, Sonya Cuellar was selected by Sundance Cinemas Gallery of Robert Redford's Sundance Group for an exclusive exhibition at their Sundance Cinema Gallery in Houston, TX.  The artist's work was chosen from a group of local artists who submitted their work for consideration to Sundance via an exclusive partnership with StudioVox.

Cuellar's exhibition, "Simple Complexities" runs from June 19 through September 2016 and includes contemporary abstract pieces that reflect emotions inspired by light and how it transforms common objects, such as a fold of cloth, a person's face, or a creation of nature.

According to Cuellar she starts with a singular vision in mind and lets the canvas carry her message.

"I think too often we make things more complex than they need to be," says Cuellar.  "We put too much thought into things that are actually quite simple.  It's easy to get lost in the world, especially with the amount of darkness we face each day but there is always light."

She is also a photographer and says that much of her work is inspired by photographs she has taken.  "Since I do mostly abstract work, I am very much drawn to colors, shapes, shadows and light.  When I take a photograph, sometimes a part or whole of that photo will inspire my work."

Sonya has now been painting for over 14 years.

With a strong commitment to her community Sonya has donated numerous pieces to local and nationwide charities including the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and the American Heart Association.  Among others, her pieces have been exhibited in the Studio Gallery, the Jack Meier Gallery and seven of her pieces were exhibited in The Galveston Historical Foundation's reconstruction project Green Revival following Hurricane Ike.
