StudioVox serves as the chosen submission and curation platform for artwork to be exhibited at Sundance Cinemas' fine art galleries.
By: Studiovox The artist's work was chosen from a group of local artists who submitted their work for consideration to Sundance via an exclusive partnership with StudioVox. Sherey's exhibition entitled "Why We Row" is inspired by her mornings spent rowing on the Seattle, Washington waters. Her exhibit of impressionist water landscapes runs through January 10. "My landscape paintings are an expression of my desire to convey the dreamlike experience of rowing in the Northwest," she says. "Something I personally have almost two decades of doing. I enjoy telling that story using the language of impressionism but with the addition of an in-focus element for the viewer to relate to - a bridge, a marina, a building – to provide an anchor to the dreamscape." Her fascination with landscapes started at a young age growing up in Texas. "Gazing at expansive horizons and big skies, I had space to imagine mountains and waterfalls not yet seen in person," she says. Now living in Seattle, she continues to revel in the natural world through painting. Her work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions and published in Washington Trails and Independent Rowing News magazines. She graduated from the University of Oregon Summa C um-Laude with a B.A. in Studio Art and a B.F.A in Painting in 2003. She can be found spending most mornings rowing on Lake Washington in Seattle witnessing sunrises over the Cascades.
