HOUSTON - Nov. 9, 2016 - PRLog -- Fine Art Painter, Ron Gordon was selected by Sundance Cinemas Gallery of Robert Redford's Sundance Group for an exclusive exhibition at their Sundance Cinema Gallery in Houston, TX.

The artist's work was chosen from a group of local artists who submitted their work for consideration to Sundance via an exclusive partnership with StudioVox.

Gordon's exhibition includes work from three separate series - "Stems and Leaves," "Urban Walk," and  "Black and White".  Each series represents different periods and approaches in Gordon's painting style.  The exhibit can be seen at Sundance Cinemas, 510 Texas Ave, Houston, TX 77002 and runs from October 19, 2016 through January 10, 2017.

"Stems and Leaves" is a series that began in 2006 when Gordon's studio was in what had been a Tortilla Factory in the older warehouse district of Houston.  A courtyard with a collection of potted plants inspired the series that continues in popularity with collectors.

"Urban Walk" is his newest series beginning just last year.  Working with stencils and acrylic spray paint, more typically associated with street art.

"Black and White" was his personal challenge to use only tone and texture on raw canvas.  Originally the general concept was "smoke" this gave way to his recurring influence of plants.

Early in his career, Gordon's large scale public murals for the Houston Zoo in 1998 put him on the artistic map as he has continued to grow his reputation as a consummate artist, who jokingly refers to himself as a "brush for hire."

Raised in rural Mississippi and learning to paint from his grandmother, Gordon is keenly aware of his southern heritage. The organic and cultural influences of "sense of place" are evident upon meeting him or viewing his paintings.

"I am a story teller," says Gordon. " The people who encourage, promote, view the work, critique, and give their patronage are participants with me. Speaking to their eyes is my privilege."

Gordon's passion for paint, color, visual texture and detail combined with his inner vision brings an unmistakable energy to his work. "The emotion or "feeling" part of my work comes from the energy of the work," says Gordon.  "Paint, records this.  It is the expressive nature of the medium.  The image also carries a story, but an image alone cannot make the impression.  It must have expression in its execution.  The work it's self carries it's own inspiration as it develops."

Gordon has produced an impressive body of work and provides an extensive selection of art services for designers, executives, display companies, and private patrons who commission him to execute artworks in numerous styles and mediums.

His exhibit can be seen at Sundance Cinemas, 510 Texas Ave, Houston, TX 77002 and runs from October 19, 2016 through January 10, 2017.
