DETROIT - May 19, 2016 - PRLog -- On Saturday, June 11, 2016, the Milan Dragway (10860 Plank Rd, Milan, MI) will host thousands of drag racing, car loving enthusiasts for one of the biggest events of the year, The Detroit Dragway Reunion. For the past six years, those that used to frequent the Detroit Dragway gather to reunite, race and show off their one of a kind cars.

This year, the special guests will include Linda "Miss Hurst" Vaughn and Roland "The Hawaiian" Leong. Both will be at the event all day and meeting and greeting guests along with autographing memorabilia from 10am-5pm. Adding to the roster of guests, Funny Car Driver Della Woods will be in attendance. Woods was the first woman to ever enter a Pro Class Race, the 1969 NHRA Winternationals.

Linda Vaughn is known as the "First Lady of Drag Racing." She is the former Miss Atlanta Raceway and has been the trophy queen at almost every race across the country including NASCAR, Indy, Formula One and more. Roland Leong made his make on Drag Racing in Southern California after moving there from Hawaii at the young age of 17. He began his career and by the age of 20, he paired up with Don Prudhomme and together they won the NHRA 1956 Winternationals and U.S. Nationals. This began his long and successful career as Leong became known as a fierce competitor and perfectionist who left nothing to chance.

This day is open to all families and will also feature a car show, along with the Logghe Brothers, who are also in the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame. Ron and Gene Logghe are known for their pure craftsmanship and innovation when they began building their own cars to race at the New Baltimore dragstrip. The Logghe Brothers' customer base over the years has been a virtual who's who of Drag Racing including Maynard Rupp, Dyno Don Nicholson, Fast Eddie Schartman, Jack Chrisman, Connie Kalitta, Butch Leal, Bill Lawton, Bruce Larson, Gene Snow and many more.

"Last year we had a great turnout, over 10,000 people came to celebrate this special day," said Deneen Baxter, Vice President of Milan Dragway. "Each year, the reunion brings out more and more families and racing generations. It's always great to see people reconnecting here that they haven't seen in years and now they bring their children and even grandchildren, really making this a great family event. With the addition of the car show, we really have something for everyone here."

Gates open at 9am and cars begin racing at 10am sharp on Saturday. The event will continue until dusk as hundreds of cars will race throughout the day. The cost to enter at the gate is $15 and kids 12 and under are free.

Along with the activities, the Billetproof Car Show will also be taking place throughout the day and for an additional $5, spectators can have a pass, allowing them access to both events.
