Workshop: Advancing the Treatment of Adolescent Eating Disorders: The BITE Approach

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. - Jan. 19, 2016 - PRLog -- The Suffolk County Psychological Association is happy to present a workshop on Advancing the Treatment of Adolescent Eating Disorders: the BITE Approach. The presenter will be Dina Hirsch, Ph.D.,  a senior psychologist at the Eating Disorders Center at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, where she teaches and supervises psychology and psychiatry trainees in the provision of CBT, DBT, FBT, and family therapy with a focus on the treatment of eating and anxiety disorders.

This workshop is geared towards both practitioners with and without prior eating disorders experience, as it will provide an overview of a novel treatment for Anorexia in adolescents. Participants will be guided in the use of the evidence based manual in their private practice. The evaluation of eating disorders, the necessity of a treatment team, recommendations regarding levels of care, and general psychoeducation on adolescent eating disorders will be among the topics reviewed

The workshop will be held at Adelphi University's Hauppauge Education and Conference Center 55 Kennedy Drive, Hauppauge (Facilities are handicapped accessible). The presentation will start at 6:45 on Friday, February 5, 2106.
