Hammond NAACP Branch Presents Annual Freedom Fund Banquet

HAMMOND, Ind. - July 3, 2015 - PRLog -- The Hammond, IN, NAACP Branch will present its annual Freedom Fund Banquet, featuring noted Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter.

About The Event

The success of the Hammond NAACP Branch has continued because of the existing partnership among business, educational, religious, civic, and community organizations. Our annual Freedom Fund Banquet will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the Dynasty Banquet Hall, 4141 Calumet Avenue, Hammond, Indiana. The cost of a ticket for admittance is $50. Social hour begins at noon, with the luncheon starting shortly thereafter.

The guest speaker for the event will be Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter. Prosecutor Carter has long been active in community affairs, serving in many capacities with charitable associations, legal groups, and professional organizations on state and local levels. Of African-American heritage, Prosecutor Carter has earned many firsts: the first elected black judge in Lake County’s history, the first elected black prosecutor in the history of Lake County and the State of Indiana, and the first elected black president of the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council for two terms.

The entertainment for the afternoon will be provided by the Moods, with the sounds of Motown. The Moods are a singing group dedicated to the fine arts of harmony and choreography. They have performed and arranged background vocals for other artists and radio and television commercials. They have performed with and opened for such major talents as the Temptations, the Spinners, Mary Wells, Bernie Mac, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, the Stylistics, the Impressions, the Chi-Lites, and many others. The Hammond NAACP Branch continues to work with every segment of the community to remove barriers for a better quality of life.
