Milan Dragway Hosts 6th Annual Detroit Dragway Reunion With Special Guests Snake & Mongoose

DETROIT - April 29, 2015 - PRLog -- On Saturday, June 13, 2015, the Milan Dragway (10860 Plank Rd, Milan MI) will host thousands of drag racing, car loving enthusiasts for one of the biggest events of the year, The Detroit Dragway Reunion. For the past six years, those who used to frequent the Detroit Dragway gather to reunite, race and show off their one-of-a-kind cars.

Special guests in attendance include the legendary Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen, who represent the greatest rivalry and friendship in drag racing history. The movie, “Snake and Mongoose,” is based on the two men and was released in 2013. The legends will be greeting fans along with signing autographs at 10:30am and then again at 3pm at the dragway.

Snake and Mongoose increased the sport of drag racing when thy teamed up with Mattel’s Hot Wheels toy line in 1969, only a year after the toy went to market. This unique partnership with Mattel revolutionized the sports marketing world and created a brand that has become a household name for young children everywhere.

“We are very excited for this year’s reunion and the response has been amazing,” said Deneen Baxter, Vice President of Milan Dragway. “We are expecting over 10,000 people to come out and I know everyone will love the special guests and happenings throughout the day. This is a great day out for the family; we have food, cars and lots of great people that will be here all day and throughout the weekend.”

Other legendary drag racers that have attended this reunion in the past include, “Big Daddy” Don Garlits, Roger Lindamood, Della Woods, Arnie Beswick, the Logghe’s and more. Others are expected to come again in 2015 as the event expands and grows each year.

Gates open at 9am and cars begin racing at 10am sharp on Saturday. The event will continue until dusk as hundreds of cars will race throughout the day. The cost to enter at the gate is $15 and kids 12 and under is free.

Along with the day's activities, the Billetprood Car Show will also be taking place throughout the day and, for an additional $5, spectators can have a pass, allowing them access to both events.
