Life drawing classes in Midlothian

Midlothian's art education provider Portfolio Oomph are delighted to be able to offer life drawing on Tuesday evenings in Midlothian in the new year. Their classes are finalised and will be taking place at the new Lasswade High School Centre, in Bonnyrigg.

What to expect: a relaxed couple of hours drawing from the nude figure. If you’ve not done life drawing before then please come along and find out what it’s all about.

Julie Read, Portfolio Oomph's founder says 'We’re essentially developing our looking and recording skills. We will start with some quick poses – 2 minutes or less! It’s fun, makes you look for the important elements of the pose and not at the detail.'

You’ll be taught about proportion, form, negative space and mark making – everything that is important in a drawing. We will be experimenting with new ways of working and new materials, not just your HB pencil, in fact, leave that at home as we have all materials provided!

Under 16 Permission Policy. Persons under the age of 16 will need to obtain permission from their parent(s) or guardian(s) in order to attend the Portfolio Oomph life drawing sessions that involve nude models. See website for details.

Julie also says 'We're really looking forward to bringing life drawing to school pupils and members of the public in Midlothian. Also, as we're working from the new Lasswade High School Centre it'll be a great opportunity to experience the working space and school.
