Lifestyles Furniture Raising Charity Donations through Ekornes Stressless Promotion

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Dec. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- Retailer LifeStyles Furniture of Davenport Iowa in cooperation with manufacturer Ekornes Stressless of Norway are working together this holiday season by offering a special charity promotion to assist area homeless in the Quad Cities.

The store will be offering special Stressless seating discounts on each Stressless seating purchased. Customers who make a $50 donation at the store or online to the Humilty of Mary Shelter through LifeStyles Furniture will recieve $200 off their Stressless seating purchase. Or $400 off select Eagle and Wing recliners with ottomans. Customers purchasing more than one piece of Stressless furniture will be able to make additional donations for each new piece of Stressless seating selected. This charity promotion will run through the holidays and ends on January 20th, 2014.

Homelessness is a serious social, political and economic issue affecting 3.5 million people each year with 35% of that number consisting of families with children in the United States. Economic factors such as lack of affordable housing, low income and lack of affordable medical care are just some of the problems contributing to homelessness. Political factors however have also led to an increase in homelessness. In the 1960's homelessness was nearly eliminated through federal housing programs and services. However in the 1980's these programs had their budgets reduced by more than 50% and were no longer able to provide a safety net for individuals trying to get back on their feet. Their emergency shelter with 65 beds provides a means to help transition homeless into permanent housing and get individuals the support they need to become more emotionally, metally and physically stable.
