By: PRHUB According to studies by Nasscom and Zinnov Management Consulting, Pune has over 110 MNC R&D centers and 24,000 MNC talent pool. It has 17 SEZs and IT Parks, which houses 125 indigenous startups, out of which 50% are Software startups. 85% of Indian software companies are headquartered in Pune and almost 61% of Indian R&D Employees are based out of Pune. Pune is on its way to become the next innovation hub of Asia. After graduating several successful batches at the Bangalore campus, IPL is now bringing the same industry relevant experiential management programs designed specifically for product career path to Pune. Pinkesh Shah, Co-founder & Director of Programs, IPL said, “Across the spectrum ranging from multinational companies to IT services companies focusing on platforms and productized services, there is an echoing need for product professionals. With the opening of our Pune campus, we continue our journey of helping companies transition their talent from project to product mindsets and skill sets and individuals help transition and accelerate their career path as true product leader” Sanjeev Kumar, MD, Informatica India said, “The scale of product development in India really took off about ten years ago, at places like Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad. So by now, there is a critical mass of senior engineering talent that has a demonstrated track record on product delivery. It is critical that we enhance the DNA of innovation and product ownership amongst this talent. IPL has started doing that at many companies in Bangalore, and now we plan to begin that process in Pune as well.” Nitin Deshpande, MD Allscripts said, “While the Indian IT industry has taken rapid strides, growing from just 1.2% of GDP to 7.5% in the last decade or so, most of the growth has come from services. It is evident that this growth is slowing down. The heartening news is that product companies have been growing fairly rapidly. Most of the large MNCs have set up shop in India, with Bangalore and Pune leading this trend. Some have partnered with Indian service providers for the same. However, it has become evident that the mindset and skillset needed for good quality product development is quite different from that needed for services. IPL has rendered yeomen service in bridging this gap and helping in creation of well-trained product leadership talent in Bangalore. Pune, with the second largest product eco-system in the country, needs this help and I am glad that IPL has decided to set up its second campus here. In fact, with its large focus on Automotive and Mechanical Design, Pune will benefit immensely with such training, not just in the software space, but in the overall product leadership arena.” About Institute of Product Leadership Pvt.
