Increase your Driving Distance with the Hip Speed Trainer. Faster hips = more speed & longer drives

Want to hit longer drives, increase your club head speed and play better golf? Welcome to the Hip Speed Trainer from Advanced Golf Performance.

Jan. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- For as long as the game of golf has been played there has been one constant that all players are seeking - More distance!

The single biggest request I get from my students is "help me get more distance" says Tom Lowrie of Advanced Golf Performance - TPI Certified Swing Instructor, Biomechanist, Junior Coach and Fitness Instructor.

Thanks to recent advancements in sports motion measurement technology we now understand the Kinetic Link and Kinematic Sequencing of sports and how to increase rotational velocities.

The Hip Speed Trainer helps players develop more motor control of the hips, increase the speed of their hips and ultimately add serious distance to their golf game.

The science behind the Hip Speed Trainer is based on studying multiple ground based rotational sports such as golf, baseball, hockey, punching and throwing. 3D sports motion capture systems allow us to measure exact rotational speed values, sequencing of each body part, loads and energy being transferred and more.

As we transfer a load from the ground (back foot in golf) the first rotational speed multiplier is the hips.  Science has proven that golfers with faster hips have increased club head speed and lower handicaps.

In fact the average amateur golfer has hip speed of around 1.5 MPH and the average professional golfer is around 3 MPH.  Average swing speed of amateur golfers is around 90 MPH and professional golfers average over 110 MPH.

Increased hip speed allows more energy and load to be transferred to the torso so it can rotate and transfer the speed to the shoulders, arms, wrists and club.

In addition to increasing speed the Hip Speed Trainer also teaches players to have better motor control of the hips allowing them to properly sequence the golf swing.

Companies like Titleist Performance Institute study the golf swing and Kinematic Sequence of the golf swing.  The sequence clearly shows that the Hips and lower body start the golf swing.  The faster a players hips can rotate... the faster the end result is at the golf club.

The Hip Speed Trainer also trains athletes to have increased balance, stability and mobility while increasing club head speed.

Here is a video from Sports Science discussing the Hip Speed or Rory Mcilroy (fastest hip on tour) and how he can hit the ball so far.
