Enchanted Closet Joins Inaugural Georgia Gives Day

On December 6, show support for The Enchanted Closet on Georgia Gives Day, a 24-hour giving event to inspire individuals to donate to their favorite charity. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be used to fund Enchanted Closet programming.

Dec. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- ATLANTA, GA – Dec. 4, 2012 – The Enchanted Closet is a proud participant in Georgia Gives Day to be held on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012. Georgia Gives Day is a giving event that inspires individuals to donate to participating nonprofits, with the goal of raising the most amount of money possible within a 24-hour period.

The Enchanted Closet welcomes donations on Georgia Gives Day.  Donate to The Enchanted Closet by visiting https://gagivesday.org/c/GGD/a/enchantedcloset on Dec. 6. One hundred percent of the proceeds donated will directly benefit The Enchanted Closet’s programming.

Here are the various ways a donation can help to empower girls:

·$10 Donation: Three hours of self-esteem building and mentoring for girls.

·$25 Donation: One dry cleaned prom dress for a girl in need.

·$50 Donation: Donate for meals and life skills training for girls in low and middle income families, foster, and group homes.

·$100 Donation: Empowerment and entrepreneur program to help girls gain self-sufficiency.  

The Enchanted Closet is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization serving teenage girls from low-income households across metro Atlanta. The organization began in 2003 as a community service project to collect prom dresses for disadvantaged girls residing in metro Atlanta. To date, the Enchanted Closet has outfitted nearly 4000 girls for special occasions.

In 2008, the Enchanted Closet launched its GIRL$ Service-Learning Program, which are life-readiness workshops designed to increase the self-esteem, self-awareness and self-sufficiency of girls. More than 400 girls have participated in the GIRL$ Program. And in 2010, the organization opened the Enchanted Closet Boutique, which allows the Enchanted Closet to sell largely discounted formalwear to the public and use the sales proceeds to fund the organization's programming. The Boutique allows the organization to collect prom attire and accessories year-round.
