| ![]() BAM Outsource Awaits Work Skills SurveyBAM Outsource is anticipating a survey which will measure the gap between the skills of Peterborough people and the needs of businesses in the city.
By: BAM Outsource Consequently BAM Outsource were interested to learn that Opportunity Peterborough are carrying out a survey to find the areas where more needs to be done to equip the people of Peterborough with the correct skills to find jobs and careers. Neil Darwin, director of economic development at Opportunity Peterborough said, “The survey is a great way for local businesses to have their say on the city’s skills agenda. If you’ve ever felt there’s a lack of training for jobs in your sector, or found it difficult to recruit people with the right skills for your business then completing the survey will be a step forward to changing that.” Managing director of BAM Outsource, Benjamin Knowles believes that businesses are going to jump at the chance to improve the local workforce. “We’ve been discussing for some time the difficulties faced by young people entering the work force and how they struggle to equip themselves with the skills that are required of them. If businesses like ourselves can have a say in where they think attention needs to be directed it will help educators to hone in on the problems and fix them more quickly.” Entry-level jobs are increasingly hard to come by and competition is fierce for the places that do exist. BAM Outsource believes that without experience in these entry level jobs people simply don’t learn the skills they need to progress up the career ladder. Mr. Knowles continued, “It is essential for schools, colleges and universities to prepare their students for the working world. If we can have some say in the kind of skills that individual businesses need then that is going to make their job a lot easier. We’re delighted that Peterborough is leading the way with this kind of scheme and we look forward to the findings in due course.” Business can access the survey online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/ End
