BAM Outsource on How to Give High Performers Feedback

BAM Outsource knows how difficult it can be to give feedback and suggestions to those who perform highly. Here are their tips.

Aug. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- BAM Outsource is an outsource sales and marketing company and work with some of the best sales associates in the UK. With such a fantastic group of individuals working on our campaigns, which range from telecommunications to entertainment, we have some seriously high achievers. So how do you ensure that your company’s high performers get the pushed the right amount and given the correct type of feedback? BAM Outsource thinks it’s all in your approach.

Firstly don’t assume that just because they’re really good at what they do, they don’t need praise. It’s just as important to give recognition and appreciation to your high performers as to anyone else. Ask yourself ‘Would I praise one of my lesser performing team members for hitting this target?’ If the answer is ‘yes’ then you should give the same level of praise and encouragement to your high performer.

Just because someone is performing above the standards of others doesn’t mean that they can’t improve. Talented and hard working individuals are by nature driven and competitive. They want to be pushed to do better and better. Set development goals with them, these might be in areas that they want to improve for the future, perhaps public speaking or coaching others. Then put a plan in place to make sure that they are stimulated and achieving all the time. After a great week at BAM Outsource we make sure we find out what people want to achieve for the next week, we don’t encourage them to do the same again, we always want them to top the previous week.

Give your feedback frequently and constructively. High achievers thrive off feedback. They tend to have a great attitude and it's been proven that you respond better to teaching when you're in a good place than a negative place. You'll find that they naturally seek out feedback. At BAM Outsource we often hear the question, ‘How can I do even better?’ It’s your job to respond to this enthusiasm and not simply say, ‘You’re doing great, keep doing what you’re doing.’

Finally learn from them. Many high performers will have a natural talent for what they do and might not know exactly why they’re so good. It’s you’re job to spend time with them to try and find out what they’re doing that makes them successful. It will help the rest of your company to grow and improve. Don’t forget to give them the credit even if it isn’t them who has been able to put it into words what they do. At BAM Outsource we give 5 minutes each day to our high performer from the previous day and ask them to share with everyone what they found was working for them. It’s a great teaching tool.
