Aug. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- On August 24 and August 25 domestic violence and women's issues advocate Apostle Dr. Tonya Blount will host the first annual "Walk in My Shoes" women's conference at 102 Jefferson Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. Through a series of two night services and a morning workshop, Dr. Blount invites all women who need encouragement, empowerment, spiritual and physical healing solutions to attend the conference. The conference is structured for women to network and bond with women who can assist, and relate to many issues that affect women today.

Apostle Blount opens the conference with a Friday night service intended for women to share their story of their walk in life. Women are encouraged to bring a pair of shoes that reflect that story. Through this exercise, women are able to self discover, share, recover, even rejoice about their "walk in life," whether good, bad or triumphant.

"In sharing the story of their shoes, women will be released from pain that has often paralyzed and compromised their emotional well being," says Apostle Blount.

Over ten years Apostle Blount has shared her story of domestic violence and sexual abuse. In 2009, New York City's Mayor Bloomberg endorsed Apostle Blount and her work by pledging his support.

"Tonya's story is one that too many New Yorkers share and together we will work to continue to see declines in domestic violence and additional resources for those who unfortunately fall victim to abusive relationships," Mayor Bloomberg.

Scheduled presenters for the Saturday morning workshop include, Pastor Tabitha Price, Senior Pastor of Second Chance Worldwide Ministries, Inc. (Brooklyn, NY),  Pastor Kayla Swindell, Executive Pastor of Emmanuel Deliverance Cathedral (Brooklyn, NY) and motivational speaker Heather Pounds (Columbia, South Carolina).
