May 29, 2012 - PRLog -- A Florida arcade gamer is preparing to hop for 100 hours straight.

Ed Heemskerk made international headlines in March for playing 68.5 hours on the classic arcade game Q*bert.  Originally planned as a practice run, Heemskerk's time ended up breaking the longtime world record for the longest game ever played on an arcade video game.

Now he prepares to aim for 100 hours on a single coin, starting June 8.

"When I'd originally thought of playing Q*bert I was only hoping to top the high score," Heemskerk said.  "During my subsequent research I discovered that I would probably need to play longer than anyone has ever played a classic arcade game.  It was at that point that I switched my ultimate goal from a high score to one of time."

The standing world record score of 33,273,520 points was set in 1983.  Heemskerk's previous Q*bert run fell off of the proper scoring pace to topple that score despite playing for a longer period of time as he finished with 30,789,910 points.

"There are some changes I'll need to make for my official attempt, including hydration, nutrition, an ample support network and other technical kinks I've identified as a result of March's run," he said.

The full run starts on June 8 and can be watched on Twitch.TV and http://www.PatrickScottPatterson.com/Ed
