WINA Announces March Industrial Wireless Webinar on Safe Wireless for Oil and Gas Applications

March 14, 2012 - PRLog -- The Wireless Industrial Networking Alliance (WINA), expert wireless resource for the industrial market, will present a live webinar on “Safe Wireless Communication Using ISA100 for Infrared Gas Detectors” on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. E.S.T.

The WINA webinar will be presented by Wireless Communication Expert, Niels Aakvaag, Senior System Architect, GasSecure and hosted by WINA President Paul B. Goodson.

Webinar: Safe Wireless Communication Using ISA100 for Infrared Gas Detectors
While there has been reluctance in the market to accept wireless communication as an integral part of safety critical applications, this webinar will address how these applications can also benefit from the use of wireless technologies as obstacles can be overcome.  Participants will learn about the GasSecure concept of safe wireless communications and their experience with safe wireless using ISA100 for infrared gas detectors.

The 40-minute presentation will be followed by a 20-minute live Q&A session.

About the Speaker
Niels Aakvaag is senior system architect at GasSecure (Norway) and is responsible for wireless and wired communication.  He has more than 15 years’ experience with wireless communication systems, having worked with Bluetooth, ZigBee, wireless HART, ISA 100, GSM/GPRS and Inmarsat satellite communication.  He received his MSc in communication from Imperial College London, England, in 1990 and his Ph.D. in signal processing from Toulouse, France, in 1996.
