STL's map data powers Sunmail Telecom Ltd's Fibre Optics Route Planning Project in Nigeria
Spatial Technologies Ltd (STL) entered into a legal agreement to supply accurate map data which would enable Sunmail Telecom Ltd plan the routes for proposed fibre optics project in 9cities across Nigeria in the most effective manner.
Under the contract, STL would supply Sunmail Telecom Ltd spatially accurate and edge-matched national road network map data; local street map data for 9 cities, landuse, Points of interest (POI) and Nigerian demographic map data. STL’s local street map product is an intelligent and detailed street centreline database that details the road network across Nigeria. The intelligence of STL’s vector map data makes it a natural choice for utility companies in Nigeria planning fibre optics laying projects.
Sunmail Telecom Ltd is a wholly indigenous Telecommunications company was established in 2002 and transforming the dynamics of its infrastructure & network capacity coupled with its tremendous knowledge of the industry and excellent network of global technology partners into concentrated customer value
In today's competitive market, the broadband industry in Nigeria has been driven by the need to provide better service coverage while reducing infrastructure costs. The solution lies in determining the optimum route for a planned fibre optic laying project.
STL’s map data powers the operations of other telecoms companies in Nigeria such as Airtel, iPNX, Galaxy Wireless Communication, Powerlink Ltd, etc The reasons for the popularity of STL’s map database lie in the way it was built. Teams of field analysts fan out across Nigeria each day, continually driving and redriving the Nigerian roads, using proprietary digital data collection tools so that STL's digital map data more closely reflects real world conditions. The result is digital map data like no other in Nigeria.
Ireti Ajala (CEO of STL) said; “As Nigeria’s foremost GIS and map data solution provider, it is always our desire to continue to strive harder to meet our clients’ map data demands and requirements consistently. Our vector map data would provide extremely powerful capabilities which would help Sunmail Telecom Ltd’s Engineers work more efficiently at each stage of the design and operation of the proposed fibre optics project.”
William Ikiabo (Sunmail Telecom Limited’ Project Manager) said, “The use of map data from STL which would underpin our fibre optics design will help us plan our fibre routes more effectively and optimally without getting involved in negotiating too many difficult Right Of Way concessions. STL’s map data would also provide our whole organisation with access to critical asset planning data that will support our drive for enhanced customer service and improved operational efficiency”
