Three things singles may do to celebrate Valentine's Day (and three reasons these are delightful)

Feb. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- Singles may claim their own stake on this romantic holiday -- by celebrating with other singles!

HERE ARE THREE SUGGESTIONS: They involve hosting simple mixers, and celebrating red for Valentine's season.
1. Host a mixer at home.
Invite all your single friends, and require them to gather all their single friends to bring along. No one who is a member of a “couple” allowed.
Red: Request they wear red -- be it the feature of their get-up, or an accessory like a red tie or scarf.  Ask that they bring something red to share. Suggestions: a red potable -- like wine, a red liqueur or red beer. Red appetizers -- like strawberries, bellpeppers, radishes, cherries, red grapes.
2. Host a mixer at a public place.
Invite all your single friends, and require them to gather all their single friends to bring along.  No one who is a member of a “couple” allowed.
Invite folks to meet at a select wine bar that has lots of tables your party may claim, or a select tavern.
Red: Request they wear red -- be it the feature of their get-up, or an accessory like a red tie or scarf.  Suggest red selections from the food and potable menu. You might even get the bartender involved in making 'red beverage suggestions.
3. Host a small singles party with your closest single friends at home.
Red: Request they wear red -- be it the feature of their get-up, or a red tie or scarf.  Ask that they bring something red to share, be it a potable or appetizers. Serve a red main dish, like chili or spaghetti.

THREE REASONS THESE ARE DELIGHTFUL:
1. Singles Only.
You have created a safe environment for your single friends to gather and meet other single folks. The first thing they have in common is that they are single. Next, that they are celebrating Valentine's - and their dash of red in their outfit makes it visual.
2, Mixer Only. This is a mixer, not a promise to meet your soul mate, nor even to get a date. The pressure is off. It's all about mingling.
3. Romance Is celebrated. You provided a space where singles may openly celebrate Valentine's season. On the mere "singles" common ground, men and women may mingle, maybe even flirt, to celebrate their romantic side.

IMPROMPTU: Okay, you've heard of "Come As You Are" parties, that prompt folks to come to an impromptu party as they "are" dressed at the moment.
This is a "wear something red" and join other singles celebration. Invite your single friends to, instead of sitting at home to watch rented movies, come out and celebrate the romantic holiday among other singles. Once they understand the invitation, even perhaps after a bit of arm-twisting to draw them out, they will likely smile at the idea, and relish in deciding what 'red" to wear for the occasion.
