The NC Center For Women In Public Service Hosts Eisenhower Fellow

Dec. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, N.C. – Annette Taylor, executive director of the NC Center for Women in Public Service (NCCWPS) (http://www.nccwps.org), a nonpartisan organization that prepares women for elected and appointed offices statewide, has announced that the center recently hosted Eisenhower Fellow Ms. Oyungerel Tsedevdamba, president of the Democratic Women’s Union of Mongolia, a 65,000 member organization that seeks to promote women’s political engagement. As part of her six-week visit to the United States to research issues relating to women’s rights, political participation and leadership, Tsedevdamba spoke with NCCWPS about their political training programs for women, as well as North Carolina campaign finance and fundraising practices.

The Eisenhower Fellowship program, currently led by Gen. Colin L. Powell, is a nonprofit and nonpartisan leadership development organization founded in 1953 in honor of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Each year, emerging world leaders travel to the United States in order to enhance their professional and leadership capabilities. Tsedevdamba was one of 17 leaders from Asia to participate in the Eisenhower Fellowship Northeast Regional Program. A passionate advocate for democracy and gender equality in Mongolia, she has also served as an advisor on human rights and public participation to Mongolian President Elbegdorj Tsakhia.
