Morgan Drexen Statistics Reflect Unemployment Linked the Debt

Nov. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- America’s poverty rate rose from 14.3% to 15.1% in 2010, the highest level since 1993.

“These statistics are not surprising,” says Morgan Drexen Chief Executive Office Walter Ledda. “Unemployment across the country remains high and therefore it makes sense that with so many people unemployed the poverty rate would go up. Providing support-platforms for attorneys nationwide we have seen an increase in attorney clients using debt resolution programs and preventative bankruptcy solutions.”

According to the Office of Management and Budget the poverty line is drawn at an income of $22,314 a year for a family of four and $11,139 for an individual.  The southern half of the country is the hardest hit with Mississippi reporting 22.7% of its population below the poverty line followed closely Louisiana at 12.6%.

New Hampshire boasts the lowest number of below poverty line residents at 6.6% reflecting the fact that New Hampshire has the fourth lowest unemployment rate in the country. In contrast Mississippi has an unemployment rate of 10.3% and falls into the top 10 highest unemployment rates in the country.
